I went to my classroom today and started putting up my bulletin boards. There's something about having bulletin boards up that makes the room feel more put together (even when the rest of it is a DISASTER!). Plus, I get to use my Dots on Turquoise border! I'm so in love with it!

Tip: Instead of using butcher paper or fabric, I use $1.99 table cloths from
Party City for my bulletin boards. They are cheap and easy to wipe off if they get dirty. The rectangular ones I use are 9 feet long so they cover most of the long bulletin boards (but not all). The table cloths are thinner than other materials, so you can kind of see the bulletin board through it, but that's not a big deal to me.
Now I just have to figure out how to cutesy up those icky brown cabinets!
In non-school news, my hubby and I got our dog a year ago today! She's the best dog we could have asked for and I've been AMAZED how much a part of our family she is! I love my Jenna!

Jenna today. She's so big now! |
Great tip about using plastic tablecloths on your BB boards! You're right about bulletin boards. Even if the rest of the room is a disaster, you look like you've got everything put together if those are done.

Love the tip about the Party City table cloths. Thanks for sharing! :) Lattes and Laughter
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, there is something about at least having the paper or table cloth background & some border up that completely changes the feel of your classroom. Just that simple thing makes it look less bare. Can't wait to see your finished classroom.

Jenna is super cute! Tomorrow is the anniversary of when we got out dogs! We got Molly last year on July 19th and we got Bella two years ago on July 19th! Crazy! :)

I love how your bulletin boards turned out and they match your blog! I love the idea of using a tablecloth, thanks!
ReplyDeleteHappy one year anniversary with Jenna! I still haven't tried tablecloths or fabric, but I don't have bulletin boards in my room now anyway.

Hi Amada,
ReplyDeleteI was immediately drawn to your blog from your blog name - I love all the pigeon books - we have changed one book to be called "Miss Hislop wants a puppy" because I am trying to talk my fiancé into letting me get one!
Lovely bulletin boards, what do about the brown cupboards... what about color posters, or number posters? Not sure....
